When is the best time to buy car insurance you might be wondering? Well, according to leading experts it is right now. So get spending if you want a bargain.
What they’ve found, is that on average, a typical car insurance policy is more expensive during the winter months, and during December you could even pay 19% more.
Buy Car Insurance Now
However, if you decide to buy a new policy or renew an existing one during the Summer months then you should be rewarded with a cheaper quote.
So during the months of June, July and August is the best time to start comparing quotes from all of the best car insurance companies, and if you ask me, even if your policy is not set to expire until the Autumn or Winter you should start shopping around right now.
That’s because you could easily save a few hundred pounds by shopping around early, and then you can cancel with your current provider for a small fee so you can switch to the new provider. It really is as easy as that.
Competition Between Providers is Important
So why is car insurance more expensive in the Winter and cheaper in the Summer? Apparently it has something to do with competition between the companies, as around December things are winding down and you have less providers giving out quotes.
During the summer though, things literally hot up and car insurance companies really want to beat their competitors to get your business, and this leads to the cheapest car insurance quotes of the year.
I reckon UK motorists should jump on this “glitch” in the system and take advantage of the car insurance companies going crazy to offer such prices, and it all starts with a comparison website.
£800 for Car Insurance…NO WAY!
This all comes at a time of course when the average car insurance quote is set to go above £800 for the first time, and if you are a young driver then you will be paying significantly more.
Some young drivers have started “fronting” in order to beat the expensive costs but I always advise against it. Not only is it against the law, but, if your car insurance company find out then they immediately cancel your policy and you lose your money. It just isn’t worth it.
Summer is the Best Time to Compare
Instead, all you have to do is shop in a smart way for car insurance and it all starts at a car insurance comparison website during the months of June, July and August.
These crazy prices won’t be around for long though, and you will probably find most quotes over £800 if you wait around for those Winter Months. Cold, snow, and expensive car insurance…not a good combination.
