50% of Motorists Can’t Afford to Drive

A recent survey of 1000 motorists between the ages of 18 and 70 showed that almost half could barely afford to drive their own car anymore.

We all know that motoring is becoming more expensive, but is it really that bad? Apparently so if we believe the survey.

Drivers Are Fed Up

Do you know what…I do believe this survey, because if there is one thing I keep hearing time and time again from drivers all around the country, it is concern about just how outrageous car insurance has become over the last few years (price wise) and how many people are thinking about giving up driving completely

Car insurance is £100 more expensive than in 2016, and if some reports are true then we could be paying £1000 by 2018. Something needs to be done, but I’m not so sure it will be…unfortunately.

However, most of the people who were surveyed are trying to do something about their situation, with 41% admitting they were actively trying to make running their vehicle more affordable in a bid to save money.

Comparing Car Insurance is a Start

How are they doing this? 60% of those surveyed mentioned they planned to shop around for car insurance the next time their policy comes up for renewal. Something which car insurance companies now have to tell you about by law of course.

It’s encouraging to see that so many people are now educated about the benefits of comparing car insurance, and this is something that I predict more consumers will be doing over the next few years.

UK Motorists Save Money

What other ways are motorists trying to save money? Some drivers have taken the drastic measure of firing their valet car washing company, while others have decided to get a cheaper car that doesn’t cost as much money to run.

All good ideas if you ask me, because let’s face it, if you are getting your luxury car valeted every week but complaining about how much it is costing you…then it’s probably time to get something a bit cheaper and then wash it yourself on a Sunday morning.

Back to comparing car insurance, and in my opinion there is no better place to find the cheapest quotes than right here.

Is Renewal Time The Best Time? No.

I’m always telling the UK public…don’t wait until renewal time because in my experience getting it sorted weeks in advance will save you a lot more money.

You can even cancel with your current car insurance company before renewal time if you find a cheaper quote, although there will be a cancellation fee. With that being said, if you save a few hundred quid then it may just be the best option.

The easiest way to find out is by filling in the simple form on this website (it takes about 3 minutes) and then you get access to over 100 car insurance companies willing to give you a quote.
