Stopping drivers for talking on mobile phones is a daily occurrence for Police, but for eating cereal? I don’t think so, although it recently happened.
This all happened in Manchester, where Police were out and about looking for people talking on their phones while driving, but then they came across a guy who just happened to be enjoying his weetabix…or was it cornflakes? A couple of slices of toast as well no doubt.
One thing I do know is that if this “cereal offender” wants to get the cheapest car insurance then he definitely should not be doing stuff like this.
When stopped by Police he was given a choice of taking points on his license, a driving course or a court appearance.
Something tells me he probably chose the course, where he can now be educated on how not to eat breakfast while at the wheel and why it isn’t such a good idea. Hopefully the message gets through.
Cheap car insurance quotes are difficult enough to get these days, with premiums constantly becoming more expensive, so if this guy does the course and changes his ways he will at least have a chance of getting a decent quote once his policy comes up for renewal.
The last thing insurance companies want to be hearing about is eating porridge at the wheel though, and they certainly don’t want to see points on your license or fines from the Police. As long as he does the course and drives sensibly in the future he should be good.
The only other advice I can give is to use a comparison site to get the cheapest car insurance, especially when you have just been given a renewal quote by your current provider.
Chances are they are hoping you don’t use a site like this one, or they reckon it’s possible to keep your loyal custom by offering a free toy (or a years supply of cereal maybe?), but don’t take any notice of that. What you want, and everybody wants, is cheap car insurance quotes. That is it, nothing more and nothing less.
Back to the story and I guess the moral of the story is…don’t eat cereal while driving. I think it is pretty obvious, because at the end of the day you are not fully in control of the vehicle while your attention is taken away with other tasks, just like talking on the phone. Eating a bowl of cereal is a criminal offence and the Police will stop you.
It’s a much better idea to keep both hands on the wheel and put your complete attention on the road. This keeps you away from the Police and gives you a better chance of getting the cheapest car insurance.
