It is alleged that a player for Chelsea FC has crashed their car while driving with no car insurance or a license. So who is it? Read on…
I’m sure that many of you were thinking this sounds like something that Diego Costa would do, although I am reliably informed that he is actually a very safe driver who also shops around for the cheapest car insurance.
The player is actually a guy named Tammy Abraham, who isn’t a household name yet, but has played for the England under 21 team and is currently on loan at Bristol City.
So what is alleged to have gone on here? Reports have suggested that Tammy crashed his Mercedes at the Bristol City training ground, maybe trying to park it? Who knows exactly what happened, but reports are saying that the player had no car insurance or license. If true it does make you wonder what he was thinking.
Anyway, the 19 year old Chelsea player is due to appear in court soon where if found guilty, he could potentially receive a fine of £5000 and get 6 points on his license. Let’s wait to see what happens with this one, but it does show the importance of obeying the laws of the road…no matter who you are.
In my opinion, Tammy should have visited a car insurance website such as this one, where he could have easily compared quotes from all the of the main companies and then chose the best one for his circumstances.
If he was driving a Mercedes then being able to afford car insurance should have been no problem, although if reports are to be trusted it was getting his driving license that was the main priority.
Of course, right now this is all just speculation, and Tammy Abraham could be completely innocent. We should wait for the UK Courts to pass judgement and see if he is guilty or not.
Driving without car insurance is a big problem in the UK though, with thousands of motorists taking to the road every day without any kind of cover. It just isn’t on.
Not only that, but many reports have suggested that one of the main reasons for car insurance being so expensive right now is because of uninsured drivers. You have to pay more because of people who can’t be bothered to pay.
Also, who can forget the recent news story about the EU law which says uninsured drivers can be compensated if they are in an accident. You couldn’t make this kind of thing up.
My advice to anyone who is thinking about driving without insurance or doesn’t have any insurance…don’t do it. You can get in trouble with the law with a fine, points on your license, and even a prison sentence. Instead, compare car insurance right here, and then you won’t get into any trouble. Simple really.
