It’s no secret that people are becoming more badly behaved on UK roads, but you might be surprised to find out which city has the worst.
I will admit that when I first heard about this research the first city that came into my mind was London.
Surely this is going to be number 1? Well, in actual fact it isn’t, and although you are sure to find plenty of drivers doing naughty things on the roads of our capital city, the place that came out on top was Bristol.
Not necessarily a place you would imagine where drivers are out of control, but according to the research by a car insurance company, it was Bristol that has plenty of incidents like swerving across lanes, talking on phones while driving, road rage, driving too fast…you get the idea.
Liverpool came in a close second though, with things such as blaring horns late at night and taking up space on the road being the main reasons why the drivers there are particularly badly behaved.
Third place? That award goes to Norwich, and it seems there is something that drivers do in this city which really annoys pedestrians.
If you haven’t guessed by now it’s splashing people with puddles, and if this has ever happened to you then it’s easy to relate why this is a reason to vote Norwich in the top 3 of worst behaved drivers. It probably happens a lot because they get a lot of rain.
However, it’s not all bad as the research also showed that despite Bristol having the worst behaved drivers, it was also the number 1 city for drivers who are prepared to own up to their mistakes. When surveyed, 61% of the people in Bristol admitted they had bad driving.
I’m glad there are people out there who are willing to own up to their bad driving, because if there is one thing I don’t like it’s drivers that get caught doing something, but then act like they are innocent or it was someone else’s fault.
Luckily, most police officers now capture much of this bad driving on their camera’s, which means although a lot of drivers might claim their innocence at first, once presented with the evidence they really have nothing else to do but admit they were in the wrong.
So where is London in the list you might be wondering? It’s no doubt going to surprise many people that our capital city only came in at 10th on the list, with cities such as Newcastle, Manchester, Southampton, Birmingham, Glasgow, and Leeds coming in before.
These bad drivers no doubt make car insurance more expensive, but fortunately you can compare insurance companies to get a better quote.
