How to use car insurance comparison sites to your advantage

With the current cost of motor car insurance on what seems like a seemingly unending skyward rise, industry experts say that the best way to save on motoring costs is to compare car insurance quotes between one provider and another.

Car insurance comparison sites are one of the best tools at your disposal, experts say, when it comes to finding discount car insurance quotes.  However, there are many things you should know when it comes to comparison sites if you’re dedicated to securing the best deal you can find.

One of the most important things you can do is to get as many quotes as possible if you’re trying to get the best deal, and this may mean using more than one comparison website.  This is because each of these comparison sites have different insurers on their panels, and the only way to get a full and complete view of the entire industry is to leave no stone unturned.

An additional thing consumers need to know is that there are some insurers that actually do not appear as part of any comparison site’s panel of providers.  This means that you may need to approach these one or two holdouts directly in order to obtain a quote, and while this may complicate and lengthen your search slightly, it’s a far cry from the way you needed to do things before the advent of comparison sites, when you had to ring up each individual insurer, give them your personal details, and then receive a quote from them – a very time-consuming and frustrating process indeed.
