One firm specialising in discount car insurance for young drivers has recently opened the doors of its new Peterborough retail centre, inviting young motorists and their parents to shop for vehicles and motor car insurance at the same time.
Crispin Moger, managing director for Young Marmalade’s first Young Driver Centre, stated that the number of its customers who can actually make it out to their new retail shop in Peterborough will be relatively slight. However, Mr Moger said that this is the first of what may very well be a whole raft of new, innovative storefronts offering budget car insurance to younger drivers.
The sole purpose of the Young Driver Centre, which is the first of its kind in the UK, is to look after both young motorists and their parents, added the managing director. The Centre, through the support of various car manufacturers, will operate as a virtual showroom for new motor vehicles, and will also feature an examples of the types of cars on display on the scheme.
Young drivers can visit the centre to learn more about the new telematics technology from the insurer, called Intelligent Marmalade, which tracks motoring habits and rewards good behaviour behind the wheel with more affordable premiums. Learner drivers will also have an inexpensive insurance product which will permit them to hone their skills in the family vehicle.
Mr Moger also said the new move was made necessary by the recent growth of the company. Marmalade’s previous Whittlesey’s offices had become too crowded for the number of staff members, which has increased twofold to a total of 18.
The new location allows for a much larger office area and 3,000 square feet for storing and preparing vehicles.
